Allan Holdsworth
Virtuoso guitarrista británico, nacido en 1948. Reside actualmente en California, E.U. Comenzó a tocar el violín siendo todavía adolescente; y la guitarra, hasta los 18 años, la estudió seriamente. Siempre quiso un saxofón; sin embargo, ve a la guitarra como un instrumento para hacer música, así como un martillo sirve para clavar clavos. Sus más grandes influencias son Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, John Coltrane, The Beatles, Claude Debussy y Steve Topping. Desde el principio trató de imitar, con la guitarra, el sonido y las figuras melódicas de Coltrane, y las estructuras armónicas de Debussy, logrando, con el tiempo, un estilo propio en nivel técnico y expresividad, que no ha sido equiparado, según opinan afamados guitarristas como Joe Satriani, Carlos Santana, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Eddie Van Halen, Greg Howe y Shawn Lane. (Frank Zappa lo llamó "El mejor guitarrista del universo" en 1978; y Malmsteen se dio por vencido al tratar de tocar un solo de los más sencillos de Allan para su disco de covers.)
